Fair Royalty Contest Rules
The Pike County Fair will be represented by five young women and men who will be awarded this honor during the Coronation Ceremony at the Pike County Fair.
Rules
1. Pike County Junior Fair Royalty contestants must be Pike County between sixteen (16) and nineteen (19) years of age as of January 1 of current year. They must not be married, nor have been married, nor have borne a child, nor be pregnant at the time of application as well as throughout their reign.
2. Any contestants for the Pike County Junior Fair Royalty Contest MUST be: a. a member who has completed or is in the process of completing at least one year in one of the following organizations: 4-H, Girl Scouts, FCCLA, or b. an alumnus of one of the follow organizations: 4-H, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts or FCCLA.
3. Five females and five males will be selected from the applicants. Placing will be: first, first runner-up, and second runner-up, etc.
4. Junior Fair Royalty must agree to reign over and be present for any fair event(s) when required.
5. Junior Fair Royalty must maintain the dress and poise of their position during the entire time of the fair. They must conduct themselves in an orderly manner at all times (no smoking, swearing, etc.). Proper attire during the judging/showing of projects will be acceptable. Fair Royalty are not permitted to wear their royal adornments during any judging and/or showing events. They are permitted to wear these if selling animals in the market animal sales. Decisions of the Junior Fair Board advisors will be final.
a. Junior Fair Royalty are not permitted to have visible tattoos or visible pierced body parts, except ears, while representing the Pike County Junior Fair.
b. Junior Fair Royalty are only to wear the clothing and adornments issued to them and/or what has been deemed appropriate by the Junior Fair Board Advisors.
6. Junior Fair Royalty will reign for one year. If the current Pike County Junior Fair queen is unable to complete their term of reign, the Junior Fair Board may pass the title to the first respective runners-up in order of the contestant rank. The Royalty Court reign will officially end with the current year Junior Fair Coronation Ceremony.
7. Junior Fair Royalty must participate in the Piketon Dogwood Festival, Beaver Oktoberfest, Waverly Jingle Bell Parade, and the State Junior Fair Queen Contest. Any other requests for appearance must be approved by the Junior Fair Board Advisors.
8. Once contestants are chosen as the Pike County Junior Fair King or Queen they are ineligible to participate in any future Pike County Junior Fair Royalty contest. The Pike County Fair King and Queen cannot be a King or Queen of another festival during their reign.
9. Eligible applicants must obtain an entry form from the Fair Board Office, their respective school, or at the county’s Extension web site: http://pike.osu.edu/ and return them to the Extension Office by the deadline. (Late entries will not be accepted.) Entrants must sign a code of conduct at the time of entry.
10. Interviews will be held at scheduled times and the Coronation Ceremony will be during the Pike County Fair. 11. Contestants will be selected on the following basis:
a. Activities: Participation, Leadership, Achievements, Initiative
b. Poise and Personality c. Personal Appearance and Presentation
d. Communication Skills
e. Responsiveness to Questions
12. Contestants will be interviewed by qualified judges. The decision of the judges will be FINAL.
